Gala History
By thinking small I have turned a life long interest in the Ballet into a thriving business of collectables... a niche in the market of Ballet memorabilia, particularly appealing to the young dancer.

I had hoped to become a dancer and trained from an early age but although serious illness in my teens cut short that career, I have never lost my love of the Ballet. I always felt there was a lack of ballet related goods for enthusiasts to collect, particularly the young dancer, so I decided to produce the first such item for myself. Just looking at a classic ballet tutu conjures up pictures in the imagination and as I had small people in mind, I shrunk that tutu to enable it to sit in the palm of a little girls hand. I delight in seeking fabrics and trimmings to represent as near as possible an original costume. I have made all the most popular designs in the classic repertoire but I am often asked to recreate a young dancers own tutu to remind her of a particular time in her career. Teachers of dance often give a tutu to a student who is leaving to continue her career elsewhere. These personal gifts are greatly appreciated and are a very rewarding part of my work. In my youth I had hoped the world of ballet would provide me with a career, so it has, but at a different time of my life and in a completely different manner. |
